About ASBEE

◆ Our story
History of ASBEE
The Anaba Spelling Bee Competition, known on campus simply as ASBEE, was founded by Charles Anaba on 30th May 2023 at Gomoa Gyaman Senior High School. What began as a single afternoon contest in the Assembly Hall quickly grew into the school's most anticipated academic event.
The first edition in 2023 crowned Priscal Agnes Mawusi Ahugah as champion speller. In 2024, the second edition, run under ASBEE Plus Limited, produced Lindywey Sackey as champion. Each year the competition has attracted more contestants, more spectators and a higher standard of spelling.
Why ASBEE was created. Charles Anaba observed that many brilliant students lost marks and confidence because of weak spelling and limited vocabulary. ASBEE was created to turn that weakness into a strength, publicly, competitively and joyfully.
The annual competition. ASBEE is organised once a year and is open only to students of Gomoa Gyaman Senior High School. No external schools participate.
